Learning to Fly
July 22nd, 2013 | John Chandler
Sunday night, Austin Mustard Seed hosted our first ever “Taster.” It was an opportunity to practice Liturgy, literally doing “the work of the people“.
John Chandler used this picture to describe the experience. The experience was both bumpy and beautiful. We sang songs, prayed prayers and took the Eucharist. The space wasn’t perfect, and the technology wasn’t ideal. One major highlight was a few minutes we call “The Prayers of the People” where they need God in their lives. This took us back to the reality: we are really here to point each other to God.
Being a church community is kind of like being a doctor or a musician: it’s something you practice. As Austin Mustard Seed grows and develops, we will continue to practice ways to do what Jesus said with each other and our neighbors.
