Learning about our refugee neighbors
November 13th, 2013 | John Chandler
This past Sunday, Erin Szczerba opened her home for an important discussion about neighbors that often go unseen in North/Central Austin: refugees. The meeting featured Gary Barnes of World Changers International. Gary has spent decades ministering among different people groups in east Asia and east Asian immigrants in the United States.
Gary shared about how many arrive in the United States due to political or religious persecution. When they finally make it to this country, they continue to struggle with basic issues like finding work and transportation.
Austin Mustard Seed wants to become a church that is FOR the neighborhoods of North/Central Austin. We hope this discussion is a meaningful first step in that direction.
We do have audio of the evening if you weren’t able to be there. However, due to the sensitive nature of the content, it won’t be posted online or added to the podcast. Contact John if you’d like to hear it.
