A week ago, John’s sermon was about Paul’s listing of five shaping voices in a church community: Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor/Shepherd, and Teacher. It will be important for us to invite these voices to help form our community, and I’m glad I’ve had a few people tell me they are curious to explore more.
Our good friend JR Woodward has done a lot of work imagining what these voices could look like in a church today. He has an introductory page on his website that is a good starting point for some further reading and consideration. He’s also helped to develop a simple online assessment you can take to see how you might fit in with all of this. Let us know what you’re discovering about yourself as we learn how to bring these voices together.
