This Sunday: Savory Lumens
June 17th, 2015 | John Chandler
Some parts of the Bible have been quoted, alluded to, and riffed on so often that they can become recognizable even in the language of pop culture. This week’s text is one of those, as Jesus describes how his followers should recognize themselves as the salt of the earth and the light of the world.
The danger is that this rich invitation to a certain way of living might become a tired old metaphor. This Sunday, we’ll try to figure out why these metaphors were so meaningful to Jesus, and how they can once again be meaningful for us.
We gather for Liturgy every Sunday at 10:30am. You are welcome to join us at Brentwood Elementary School (6700 Arroyo Seco). (Park in the back off of Yates Ave.) All are welcome.
