Charting a Common Life Together
January 4th, 2016 | John Chandler
We have much to celebrate in the life of our church community; and yet, we’re still a young church. One of our primary goals for this year is to become fully independant. We will say thank you to those that have walked alongside us, but move forward through guidance and finances provided fully from within our congregation.
One of the steps we will take is to talk about what it means to be in faithful relationships as a church community. Sometimes churches have membership, covenants or rules of life to define this. We will begin to form our own common life toward that end, imagining how we can better follow Jesus alongside one another.
For the next four weeks in liturgy, I will guide us through a look at what it means for us as a church to participate in a shared life together. We hope you can keep up with this conversation each week in liturgy or by catching up on the podcast.
Following that, we will continue the conversation in three family meetings throughout the spring. We’ll discern together what it will look like for us define some kind of common life around our rhythms, practices, and commitments to one another.
I’m thankful to walk through this with all of your faces that I’m picturing right now. And I’m excited about what is to come.
See you Sunday.
