Meet the Leadership Team: Shane Blackshear

We couldn’t be more thrilled to begin integrating the Leadership Team into the life of Austin Mustard Seed. Each member was suggested by the community of Austin Mustard Seed as a recognition of the service they’ve already provided to our Church. We believe that God will use this team to help our Church community mature into who we are called to be.

What’s your name and the name of your family members?

Shane, Kate, Margot.

How did you come to be a part of Austin Mustard Seed?

Kate and I met John (Chandler) a long time ago at an event and I met Chris (Morton) in a coffee when he saw me reading N.T. Wright, so we knew about AMS for a long time. After our previous church disbanded we decided to join.

Describe Your Spiritual Journey

I grew up in a great home that made our spiritual and church lives a priority. I went to college and graduated and deconstructed a lot of the teachings that I grew up with. My faith looks somewhat different than the faith I grew up with, but I’m in a good place and growing.
