This is Who We Are: Michael and Rebekah Hansell
November 29th, 2016 | John Chandler
This is Who We Are is an interview series where the women and men of Austin Mustard Seed introduce themselves. If you’d like to participate, send an email to Chris Morton.
This week we have the pleasure of introducing you to Michael and Rebekah Hansell.
What’s your favorite dish to cook?
We both cook a lot of good dishes, but if we’re being honest our favorite thing to make at home is French fries 🍟❤️️
What was the last movie you watched that you really enjoyed?
We saw Dr. Strange recently and really enjoyed it, but plan to see Fantastic Beasts this weekend!
What hobbies do you have?
Michael: reading, video games, board games, movies/tv, music
Rebekah: reading, hiking, art, crafts, cooking, cats
Where did you grow up?
Rebekah:
Most of my life I lived in a 30 mile radius of Brownwood, Texas (where the X is in Texas on the map). I lived in DFW for a few years before moving here. Austin is in my opinion the best bigger city to live in Texas.
Michael:
Most of my life I grew up in Bastrop, Texas, in the Lost Pines area. I then moved to San Marcos Texas and earlier this year moved to Austin.
Where did you go to school?
We were both homeschooled! Growing up in very close knit families.
Why do you follow Jesus?
Rebekah:
Jesus feels like truth to me, more than anything else on the earth. I enjoy his subversive and radical way of love. He shows us what True Love is. I’m glad that I’ll continue to spend my life following Him. If you’re going to live, you want to be doing what matters most, right?
Michael:
I follow Jesus because he is the Truth, the Life, and the Way. Without him I would be a lost, rudderless man seeking meaning from a meaningless world.
Final Question
What is one thing you love about Austin Mustard Seed?
Rebekah:
We all seem able and willing to be our true selves around each other. There’s a lot of freedom and relief in that.
Michael:
I love how genuine and community oriented everyone is.
