This is Who We Are is an interview series where the women and men of Austin Mustard Seed introduce themselves. If you’d like to participate, send an email to Chris Morton.

This week we have the pleasure of introducing you to Aubrey Evans.

What hobbies do you have?

I enjoy playing guitar, songwriting, and poetry, and going out to see live music. Also, I have a pet cat named Pumpkin who I love to spoil.

What is your favorite dish to cook?

I have finally mastered my mom’s famous chicken soup from scratch.

What is the most influential book you have ever read?

The Language of God by Francis S. Collins, written by the head of the Human Genome Project who describes his personal journey from atheism to faith through scientific exploration.

Where did you grow up?

Chilly, gray Rochester, NY

What is your day job?

I am currently working through my hospital rotations as a student nurse.

What is your favorite verse in scripture?

“For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

These words have been a comfort to me during unpredictable times, and I continue to rely on them for encouragement.

What is one thing you love about Austin Mustard Seed?

Every week I am touched by the Prayers of the People, in which we share personal grievances and gratitudes. It’s very humbling to join in the vulnerabilities of others, and it’s a unique reminder of the “Common Life” in which we all share.
