Make Good: Collaborating With Others (2018.09.23)
September 25th, 2018 | Daniel Read
Call To Worship
Lord God our Father, Creator of all
Your wind swept the waters when the world began,
You spoke the Word, that was always your Word.
Through your word, all things came to be,
The light was separated from darkness.
Creation was put into motion
To develop and become
To participate in relationship with you…
When our ancestors were lost, they called upon your name.
You went before them in smoke and fire.
You spoke to them in dreams and visions.
But when they remained stuck, Your Word came in flesh to live with among them.
But the world He had made did not know Him; His homeland refused Him.
Regardless, He loved us to the end.
On the cross, He gave the Spirit of life,
flowing forever like water from a living spring.
And Now all who call on Christ are children of God:
born from above, they blow through the world with your Spirit,
bearing witness to the truth of your Word,
living forth your teachings and blessing to all
And so, as we gather today to participate in this story
We pray that You would reveal Yourself to us!
We pray these things
in the name of our Creator God,
of our loving Savior,
and the Holy Spirit, our Advocate, and Guide.
Amen.
Prayer of Confession
In peace, we pray to you, Lord God.
For all people in their daily life and work;
For our families, friends, and neighbors and for those who are alone.
For our community, our nation, our world;
For all who work for justice, freedom, and peace.
For the just and proper use of your creation;
For the victims of hunger, fear, injustice, and oppression.
For all who are in danger, sorrow, or any kind of trouble;
For those who minister to the sick, the friendless, and the needy.
For the peace and unity of your Church, O God;
For all who proclaim the Gospel and all who seek the truth.
For the needs and concerns of our community.
Hear us, Lord; for your mercy is great.
We thank you, Lord, for all the blessings of this life.
Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father;
in your compassion forgive our sins, known and unknown,
things done and left undone;
Uphold us by your Spirit
that we may live and serve you in newness of life,
to the honor and glory of your Name;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

“To be Christian is to stake our lives on this belief, the only cultural goods that ultimately matter are the ones that love creates.”
-Andy Crouch
Text from this Sunday:
Nehemiah 3:1-14
Nehemiah 6:15-16
Benediction
May we honor your name, oh Lord
by trusting the vision it speaks of
and the life it calls for.
Keep us from hollow words
And from half-hearted actions
Let us never grow weary of doing what is right!
Let us never grow weary of speaking of hope and peace.
Let us never grow weary of loving others.
that we would be willing to touch the outcast
and feed the hungry
That we would remember the sick
and visit the imprisoned
That we would clothe the naked
and give water to the thirsty
That we would reach out to our brothers and sisters,
friends and strangers, empowered by love.
We pray these things by the grace of God
With the empathy of the Son
And in the sustaining breath of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
